MY SECRET LOVE
At first it was innocent enough, a small snack here and there, but slowly I began to notice the jeans were getting tighter – and it didn’t stop me. I was in love and addicted to food. Snacks were replaced with takeaway foods, cakes and doughnuts. An average meal of a whole pizza, three burgers, fries and a large thickshake had piled more than 27kg on me.
A simple photo gave me the shock I needed to change my life in an instant. Shopping with my partner and the kids, we stopped for a photo with a character from Dora the Explorer and when I saw the picture I was horrified – I was bigger than the novelty character! I was repulsed, I took the photo home and stuck it to the fridge as a constant reminder of what I had become.
